Dubas was never getting fired this off season probably should just drop that argument Step.

We missed the playoffs this season, so it's hard to applaud what he does.

Yet again ignoring Muzzin's ability to get the puck to the forwards. More like you're stuck in 2004 and think a non PP specialist defensemen are all Derian Hatcher. And predictably crying about sexual

this is hockey talk morri, there wouldn't be any homos around here.  let the man speak!

You take that back right now There are not many things in the world I hate more than the sabres

"That is why it was important for us to have Rodrigues in the deal as well and begin to have a conversation with his representatives about the opportunity that may be here for him." - Kyle Dubas at the trade presser.

This can't be serious, right?  He has a $2m qualifying offer.  He was worse than anyone the leafs dressed last season for more than 10 games.

A conversation is only worth it if he takes a pay cut, there's no room for a 2M fourth liner and signing him for that or anywhere close to it would be a mistake.

Right.  Can't imagine him getting anything above league min here, and can't see why he wouldn't roll the dice on a different, shittier team with a bit more space and opportunity to play.

It's honestly irrelevant as long as it's under a mil, since it'll be buried on the marlies.

If he somehow "makes" the leafs, that's a pretty bad sign.

He's a Toronto kid and could be a depth option if Spezza or Clifford leaves. He can fuck off if he expects anything over a million.

Who gives a shit where he's from, Don?

Clifford's not coming back.

Spezza sounds good to try it again at league min.

Who's this guy gonna replace on the depth chart?  Petan?  15th forward?

Agostino didn't get a sniff and he's a better player, especially for a 4th line role.

I forgot Petan existed, same goes for Malgin. Spezza took a discount to play here, I assumed Rodrigues might too seeing that’d be his only chance to be a Leaf. They definitely need to re-sign Spezza no matter what.

"There isn’t a player remaining in the playoffs with a cap hit north of $10 million. The Leafs have three of them."

Kind of scary isn't it?

Salaries inflate as the cap has gone up every year. I mean, it is what it is.

I wouldn't object to Spezza getting another year.

He paid for the ticket with his play.

It was also encouraging to watch Matthews immediately grab the baton that Spez laid down, and lead his crew to a comeback win. A perfect example of a young star, benefitting from veteran leadership.

Yeah, Spezza basically said he was ready to go again, and he more than earned it.

Good point with Matthews.  He really responds to the physical intensity of his guys.

He netted the overtime winner in the heritage classic, saying Martin's beatdown of Ott "fired me up".  Turned it up big after Clifford's first tilt in blue & white this season also.

But this is one of my favorite leaf highlights, and not just recently:

Kadri with the match, and the kid's got the dynamite.

*audible sigh*

didn't jagr sign for like 11 mil 20 years ago?

Pretty sure that was before the cap. The Rangers at the time had an $85m payroll and yet still missed the playoffs.

Montreal made the playoffs. They are doing a bang up job over there I guess.  Making the playoffs this year is irrelevant. What's relevant is the type of play we displayed for 60 plus games that was inconsistent and sloppy defensively. Yes, that was was caused it to "miss the playoffs" but missing this bastardized playoffs tells us very little other than what we already knew.

I don't know about the part about him sleeping with other men and I don't care, but your 1st sentence is absolute truth.
